In the event that Newcastle United and Chelsea agree on a price for the defender, Marc Guehi will be free to rejoin the team.

Although there are differing rumors regarding the status of a potential transfer, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are still in negotiations regarding a fee. The Telegraph reports that an agreement is expected to be finalized before the weekend, while Sky Sports News has downplayed rumors of a close deal.

Nonetheless, it is understood that using personal language won’t be an issue. In the past, Guehi has talked positively of his time spent playing at St. James’ Park and his rapport with Anthony Gordon while leading England to the 2024 European Championship.

Guehi has been connected to Chelsea and a number of other elite teams. The Blues will need to decide if Newcastle accepts a fee. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, they incorporated a matching rights clause into the deal when they sold the center-back to Palace for £18 million in 2021.
With both Jamaal Lascelles out until later this year due to ACL injuries, Eddie Howe’s team is looking for a new center-back. This summer, Lloyd Kelly was recruited by the team on a free transfer from AFC Bournemouth.

Malick Thiaw, a defender for AC Milan, has also been pursued by United. Last week, his agent was had to refute rumors that a transfer to St. James’ Park was imminent.
