As far as HITC is aware, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are still negotiating on a deal for Joao Felix.

This summer, Unai Emery’s team has been highly busy in the transfer market, but they are keen to sign Joao Felix as a marquee player.

HITC disclosed on Tuesday that Villa is willing to pay Felix a weekly salary of approximately £150,000 in order to secure a permanent contract.

The 24-year-old had a memorable appearance in Atletico Madrid’s most recent preseason friendly against Getafe after returning to training.

Felix is keen to finish his move abroad, but Atletico has made it apparent that they would prefer to move him on this summer.

While Villa are still putting in a lot of effort behind the scenes to move a deal closer, reports from Spain indicated Felix wanted his future resolved before Atletico left for Hong Kong on Sunday.

The club president discusses Joao Felix’s prospects.
Villa is not the only team interested in signing Felix; a loan deal from his last squad, Benfica, is also being considered.

For Villa supporters, however, recent remarks made by Benfica president Rui Costa will be welcome news.

“Benfica is unable to pay Atletico Madrid what they want for Joao Felix right now,” Costa stated.

“We really want to bring him back, but it doesn’t seem possible at all.”

Benfica’s withdrawal from the competition puts Villa in a great position to close a deal.

Atletico and Villa have reportedly been in negotiations for a move for more than £50 million, according to HITC. A required buy provision linked to an initial loan contract is one potential solution that has been explored.

Felix’s deal pays £250,000 a week for the next five years; negotiations are still ongoing to determine how much he will be paid.
