Highly sought-after linebacker prospect, a top target for LSU football recruiting, reveals the date for his commitment announcement.

Recently, LSU football recruiting emerged as one of the top contenders for highly sought-after linebacker prospect

Tavion Wallace. It appears that the wait for his decision might not be prolonged, as reports indicate that he will

announce his college choice later this summer, with the latest update coming on Friday, May 3, 2024.

The commitment date for the standout defender signifies a significant development in LSU’s pursuit of top talent.

Despite a relatively quiet period in recruiting activity, LSU football recruiting has been likened to a dormant force, poised to awaken and make a splash in the coming months.

At the outset of 2024, the Tigers made significant strides in recruiting for the class of 2025, securing four

commitments in January alone. Notably, they landed the top-ranked player nationally, quarterback Bryce

Underwood. Since then, Coach Brian Kelly has added just three more commitments to the roster.

Nevertheless, the allure of a sleeping giant lies in its inevitable awakening. It’s merely a question of when.

While the timeline for LSU football recruiting to regain its national prominence remains uncertain, the upcoming

summer holds promise for the purple and gold’s future. Most recently, highly regarded linebacker prospect and top

target for LSU’s defense, Tavion Wallace, revealed that his decision date is fast approaching. According to Chad

Simmons of On3, the standout four-star recruit from Jesup, GA, will announce his college choice on July 15, 2024.

This announcement follows closely after he trimmed down his list of preferred schools to five, which include Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU.

Leading contenders to secure the standout linebacker

While there is ample time before Tavion Wallace, ranked as the No. 26 player nationally by 247Sports, finalizes his decision, it appears that LSU may face an uphill battle in securing his commitment.

Currently, Wallace has scheduled official visits to four of his top-five schools, with the exception of LSU. At present,

the 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker is slated to visit Arkansas on May 31, Georgia on June 7, Florida on June 14, and Florida State on June 21.

Regarding the frontrunners for Tavion Wallace, early indicators suggest that head coach Mike Norvell and Florida

State are in a favorable position. The Seminole football program has been actively pursuing Wallace for over a year, extending their first offer to him in March 2023.

Additionally, the Georgia Bulldogs, located in-state, could emerge as contenders to watch. However, at present, schools closer to the Atlantic Coast appear to have an advantage.

It’s worth noting that while Wallace has not yet made plans to visit Baton Rouge, there is still time to potentially

arrange a visit in the future. With his commitment date set for mid-July, there is considerable flexibility in the weeks

leading up to it. Therefore, it may depend on the efforts exerted by Coach Brian Kelly and his coaching staff in the coming weeks.

The LSU class of 2025 currently holds the second spot nationally, according to On3 rankings, boasting a total of 12 commitments. Impressively, 11 of these commitments are rated as four-star or higher.
