Referee Graham Scott gave Manchester United’s coach, Erik ten Hag, a yellow card for objecting to a throw-in call that didn’t go in his team’s favor during yesterday’s match between the Red Devils and Luton Town, which the Red Devils won by a slim score of 1-0.

For ten Hag, this is the third warning of the current season. The first two were given to him while his club was playing Arsenal and Tottenham.

A coach who receives three warnings from the referee will be suspended for their team’s next game, according to Premier League regulations. Ten Hag will therefore be unable to participate in Manchester United’s November 26 encounter against Everton following the international break.

In 2019, the Premier League implemented the use of yellow and red cards for players and coaches in technical areas.

If a player receives eight yellow cards, they will be suspended for two matches; if they receive twelve warnings, they will be suspended for three matches. A player will be disciplined if they receive sixteen yellow cards.

Due to three warnings from the referee this season, Pep Guardiola, the coach of Manchester City, has already missed one game with his club, against Wolves in September. Fascinatingly, City dropped that game 1-2.
