TORONTO: Daniel Adeboboye, a running back from Canada, signed a contract extension with the Toronto Argonauts on Wednesday.

In 2024, the 24-year-old is anticipated to play a larger role due to the retirement of veteran Canadian Andrew Harris and the free agency departure of American A.J. Ouellette to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

In training camp, though, the Canadian will have competition as Toronto has signed American running back Ka’Deem Carey. With the Calgary Stampeders in 2022, the 31-year-old rushed for a CFL-high 1,088 yards, but due to injuries in 2023, he only managed 476 yards in nine regular-season games.

Carey, who stands five feet nine inches tall and weighs 206 pounds, played three seasons with the NFL’s Chicago Bears (2014–16) before joining the Stampeders in 2018. Along with releasing defensive lineman Thomas Costigan, Toronto also re-signed defensive lineman Shawn Oakman, who became a free agency on Tuesday.
