Amidst severe financial difficulties, West Ham United wants to recruit Barcelona star Raphinha.
Because the La Liga heavyweights are having financial difficulties, West Ham United wants to buy Barcelona winger Raphinha during the summer transfer window, according to HITC.
The news agency reports on their website (16 February) that the Catalan giants are looking to sell the former Leeds winger as they try to reduce their squad size because of their well-known financial issues.
However, a number of teams, including West Ham, are interested in the Brazilian, and a storyline is expected to unfold over the summer transfer window.
“HITC Football is aware that Barcelona, whose financial problems have been widely publicized in recent years, intends to reduce the size of their expensively assembled team once more this summer, with forwards Raphinha and Ferran Torres being two of those who have made themselves available for transfer,” they stated in their letter.
“Barcelona has told Torres that they are open to receiving proposals.
“Raphinha seems to have more fans right now, though, as West Ham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle, and Leeds are all keeping an eye on a player who was Leeds’ best player during his two seasons in the top division.”
West Ham can advance.
With David Moyes’s future still very much in doubt, the summer transfer window in east London is sure to be quite busy and will make it challenging to make plans.
Last year, Tim Steidten appeared to be in charge of moves, but disagreements with Moyes complicated matters and ultimately, transactions were completed only toward the end of the window.
This time, if decisions are made sooner in the process, the club may have a better chance of securing deals like this in the future—Steidten having a track record of accomplishing just that.
With his talent in the final third, Raphinha is the kind of player that supporters would love to see join the team and could truly assist West Ham reach new heights. In the past, he has expressed interest in relocating to the London Stadium.
If the team can move fast enough to beat the competition to his signature, this might be a tremendous addition to the squad and an excellent substitute for Lucas Paqueta, who could go owing to the activation of his release clause.
In other West Ham news, Tim Steidten wants to replace David Moyes with a Champions League champion.
