Michael Irvin Reacts Strongly To Mike Zimmer Being Hired by the Cowboys.
There is a new defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys.
They needed an experienced replacement for Dan Quinn, who was departing to join the Washington Commanders, their divisional rivals.
They went for Mike Zimmer, one of the top defensive minds on the market, for this reason.
Notably, Michael Irvin, a former Cowboys legend, is ecstatic about this hire.
In an interview with Undisputed, the Hall of Famer reflected on his three decades ago as a defensive backs coach for the Cowboys.
Irvin declared, “I truly do think this is a great hire.”
He discussed how Zimmer brought intensity to practice every day and how the DBs were always prepared to play.
The great wide receiver thinks that the Cowboys needed this defense more than anything else since he thought Dan Quinn’s squad wasn’t always prepared, which clearly came back to bite them when it counted most.
Irvin wasn’t overly sad when Quinn departed the team because he had already been critical of him.
Before Quinn’s three years, the Cowboys possessed a strong pass defense and a talented pass-rushing unit, but they were never able to pull through when it mattered most of the season.
Now that he has left a lot to be desired when the Cowboys have most needed him, he might be exactly what Micah Parsons needs to make that huge step forward and become a leader.
