In Super Bowl preparation, Patrick Mahomes praises Lamar Jackson of the Ravens.

Future player Patrick Mahomes is thinking about the great season that Bo Jackson had while he and the Kansas City Chiefs are ready to play the San Francisco 49ers for the title on Sunday. While Mahomes and the Chiefs did a good enough job of neutralising the Ravens’ offence in the AFC championship game, the quarterback is not looking forward to his next meeting with Jackson, allowing Baltimore’s primary passer to win MVP.

Mahomes is impressed with Jackson’s ability to only seem to have gotten better in the four years that have passed, seemingly far from satisfied with only one MVP trophy on his mantle. “It’s hard when you win the MVP that first season (as a starter), then strive to get better and he’s done that,” Jackson said. “That’s probably why he will win the MVP.” Jackson previously won the MVP award in 2019.

Jackson is the front-runner to win this year’s MVP award when they present the NFL Honours on Thursday night. He previously won the award in 2019. Mahomes is impressed by Jackson’s apparent improvement over the last four years, despite the fact that he is reportedly not content with just one MVP award to his name.

Jackson and the Ravens seem to be one of Kansas City’s most daunting opponents if they are to prolong their de facto dynasty (they will be playing in their fourth Super Bowl in the previous five seasons on Sunday). Unfortunately for Baltimore, the aerial rivalry is similar to Peyton Manning’s early troubles versus Tom Brady. Jackson has only managed one victory in his last five encounters with his Chiefs, including the 17-10 loss in the AFC championship game. Out of five showdowns, one possession has determined all but one of them.
