Right now, the player is having the finest run of the season.
Aston Villa paid more than £4 million to capture Nicolo Zaniolo on loan from Turkish club Galatsaray during the summer transfer season, with an option to buy. Villa will pay a guaranteed £19 million to sign Zaniolo, with the possibility of up to £13 million in add-ons, provided certain conditions are met.
That is by no means a given, though, according to recent reports from Italy. Given that Fiorentina, Milan, and Napoli are all investigating deals for the summer, it seems likely that he won’t meet the obligation-to-buy level. Zaniolo is reportedly eager to go back home in order to improve his chances of playing for the national squad.
Unai Emery added other temporary members besides Zaniolo, although in Clement Lenglet’s case, there is no purchase option. The Barcelona player’s pay is being paid for seventy-five percent by Villa; nevertheless, he will automatically return to the Nou Camp in the summer unless they receive a good permanent offer.
Lenglet and Milan held talks about a deal last month, but Villa refused to renounce their loan, so there’s now a chance he may wind up staying in the Midlands permanently.
Villa might push Lenglet permanently.
Sport, a Spanish publication, reports via Sport Witness that Villa might sign Lenglet long-term during the off-season. They might “take the step” and submit a formal proposal as a result of his “good performances” in the last several weeks.
Barcelona wants to get the Frenchman’s wages off the books, so they’ll “try to sell” him, although it’s uncertain if they’ll accept a lower offer. Lenglet is reportedly “one of the highest earners” at the team at the moment, but the Blaugrana are currently only covering 25% of his compensation.
“Amazing” Lenglet is having a great moment.
Lenglet has participated in 14 games in all competitions for Villa. Prior to Pau Torres’ injury creating a window for the Premier League, the majority of his playing time was spent in the Europa Conference League, where he started five of Villa’s six group-stage games. At the start of his Villa career, he was benched for 14 straight Premier League games; however, he has since rattled off six straight top level starts.
