
Goalkeeper Matt Turner delighted Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo with his performance in the FA Cup fourth-round match against Bristol City.
Due to a number of high-profile errors made by Turner in recent weeks, Nuno was forced to acquire a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window; Matz Sels will start in the Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday.
After the match finished 1-1, Forest won the shootout 5-3 thanks to a save from US international Turner, who also kept Bristol City at bay for the full 120 minutes. Sels was not eligible for the replay.
Nuno, a former goalie himself, stated: “It needs to boost him confidence. We understand that he is having difficulty following our choice to move to the Premier League, but he has responded like a true professional.”
After eight minutes, Divock Origi scored the team’s first goal, giving Forest fans hope for an easy night. However, six minutes later, Jason Knight equalized.
Due to a protracted injury, former Liverpool striker Origi has not had a pleasant time at the City Ground.
Nuno stated: “I believe he used that energy nicely in the first half. But he’s been gone for a while now, as the minutes pass.
