Unai Emery,  Unai Emery, The goalkeeper from Australia, Joe Gauci, sees his move to Aston Villa as a “fantastic opportunity” to establish himself under Unai Emery in the Premier League.
Mark Schwarzer, the renowned Socceroos goalkeeper with extensive experience in English football, has stated as much.
For almost twenty years, Schwarzer was a constant in Premier League football. And the former gloveman for Middlesbrough, Chelsea, and Fulham is overjoyed to see Joe Gauci follow in his footsteps. Joe Gauci, 23, became the most expensive export in the history of Australia’s A-League after Aston Villa completed a deadline-day deal.
Joe Gauci is signed by Aston Villa from Adelaide United.
Regarding Aston Villa’s rumored ÂŁ1.3 million acquisition of Joe Gauci, Schwarzer tells Optus Sport, “it’s a huge one.”
Villa is a very large club. They are gradually awakening under Unai Emery, and Joe has a great chance to be at the center of it.
After Robin Olsen’s contract expires in the summer, Schwarzer anticipates Gauci, who has two senior caps for Australia and was named to the A-League’s Team of the Year in 2023, to back up World Cup champion Emiliano Martinez.
Martinez is already a “world-class” talent, according to Gauci. Schwarzer concurs that Martinez, an Adelaide native, will only gain from the opportunity to refine his skills beside a goalie with Martinez’s caliber and experience, even though first-team opportunities may not come up very often at first.
“It will greatly improve him.”
Schwarzer continues, “He gets to learn from a player who was voted the best in the world just over a year ago.” Being a top goalie’s backup means learning from him and incorporating some of his techniques into your own game. Using them, testing them and seeing what works for him. And, perhaps more crucially, what doesn’t. It will significantly raise his level of play.
But it’s about much more than just having a top-notch teammate.
But it’s about more than simply having a top-notch colleague; it’s about everything in his immediate environment. European football, from better goalie coaching to a high level of pressure and expectation, exposure to the possibility of promotion and relegation,
“All of them are experiences that are simply unavailable in the A-League.”

Joe is at the ideal age to make this switch to European football—23 years old. It’s a fantastic opportunity to take in all of this fresh knowledge and experience in the world’s most competitive premier league.
