Regarding Aston Villa’s rumored £1.3 million acquisition of Joe Gauci, Schwarzer tells Optus Sport, “it’s a huge one.”
Villa is a very large club. They are gradually awakening under Unai Emery, and Joe has a great chance to be at the center of it.
After Robin Olsen’s contract expires in the summer, Schwarzer anticipates Gauci, who has two senior caps for Australia and was named to the A-League’s Team of the Year in 2023, to back up World Cup champion Emiliano Martinez.
Martinez is already a “world-class” talent, according to Gauci.
