Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca will be looking to bolster his squad this month in their push for promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The Foxes have had a remarkable season so far, picking up 65 points from 26 games, keeping them on course for a Championship record. The leaders are 10 points clear of second placed Ipswich Town and looking destined to emerge as champions come May.
That said, deals can still be expected, with some names already being linked with a move to the King Power Stadium, while others could be shown the door as Maresca continues to add his mark to the squad. Here’s a look at the latest transfer talk around the Foxes over the last few days…
Bologna are reportedly seeking talks with Leicester City over loanee Victor Kristiansen. The 21-year-old joined the Serie A outfit on a season-long loan last summer, and Bologna have an option which allows them to buy Kristiansen for €15m.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Tutto Bologna Web ) Bologna consider the purchase fee high and may initiate further talks with City. They want to drive the price down.
The Italian outlet claim Kristiansen “has not yet fully convinced with his performances” and therefore Bologna will have to consider whether to take a risk on a permanent deal. Technical director Giovanni Sartori is reportedly be behind all decisions
Leicester City are reportedly eyeing a loan move for Liverpool winger Fabio Carvalho until the end of the season. The 21-year-old has been recalled from his season-long loan with RB Leipzig due to a lack of game time. He made only three starts in a total of 15 appearances in all competitions.
As the Reds consider Carvalho’s next options, Sky Sports claim City “want to sign” the Portuguese winger. However, he is “expected to have interest from a number of teams” especially in the Championship.
Leicester City have held talks with Wolfsburg over young defender David Odogu with Chelsea also interested, according to reports in Germany.
The 17-year-old was part of the Germany U17 squad that lifted the World Cup in 2023, playing every minute of every game back in November. He is a regular for Wolfburg’s U19s, playing 11 times so far this season.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, both Chelsea and City are ‘interested’ in signing the teenager in the current window. It is said that ‘first talks’ have taken place with both clubs, but are at an ‘early stage’ and other English clubs are also showing an interest.
Enzo Maresca has urged Abdul Fatawu to use his omission from Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations squad as a chance to convince Leicester City they should buy him permanently in the summer.
The City manager has welcomed news that the winger will be with the club over the next six weeks rather than representing his nation at the tournament in the Ivory Coast. Fatawu was included in Ghana’s preliminary squad but left out of the final line-up, announced by their manager, Chris Hughton, on Monday.
With Fatawu in good form, it’s a boost for City, and should be seen as an opportunity for the teenager, Maresca has said. The 19-year-old is on loan from Sporting Lisbon, and having one more month to impress at the King Power Stadium may help convince the club to pay the cash to bring him in permanently in the summer
