The Red Wings win 5-3 thanks to two goals from David Perron.
SAN JOSE, California — The Detroit Red Wings defeated San Jose 5-3 on Tuesday night, extending the Sharks’ losing streak to nine games. David Perron scored twice, including the game-winning goal with 1:30 remaining.
Detroit also got goals from Daniel Sprong and J.T. Compher. Lucas Raymond provided three assists, and Michael Rasmussen scored with six seconds remaining. Alex Lyon made 24 saves.
Fabian Zetterlund, Justin Bailey, and Alexander Barabanov scored for the NHL-worst Sharks (9-26-3), who have now lost 11 straight games. Kaapo Kahkonen came up with 26 saves.
The Red Wings had lost three of their previous four games and ten of their previous thirteen, but they began their three-game trip to California on a high note.
With the score tied at three, Perron’s centering feed deflected off the foot of Sharks defenseman Kyle Burroughs and into the net, where Dylan Larkin drove to the net.
Midway through the third period, Barabanov put San Jose ahead 3-2, his 100th NHL point. He skated to the goal line, twisted and wristed a shot past Lyon.
