Jessy James took a moment to reflect on how he felt following the Toronto Raptors’ sad one-point loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday.

“It’s as if my long-lost girlfriend broke up with me.” “It’s difficult,” the 27-year-old Torontonian stated.

“But I have so much love around me I can’t feel too sad about it.”

James had been camped out in Jurassic Park — the downtown Toronto outdoor public area with the huge screen television that has become a fan focal point to watch playoff games — since Sunday night.

He was able to make his way to the front of the crowd inside the Park, where he and hundreds of other ecstatic supporters had jammed into the plaza, anticipating that a Raptors victory would

cement their place in Canadian sports history.

City officials and police had planned for such a large-scale celebration, which would have brought hundreds of thousands of ecstatic supporters into the downtown centre.

Instead, minutes after the final whistle, several devastated spectators silently exited the Park, shaking their heads in amazement that they had come so close to winning the championship, only to lose 106-105.

“We had it, we had it, we had it, we had it, guys, we had it, in our hands,” James told his friends.

‘You can never be certain,’ Alan Joumaa said, reflecting on the defeat.

“The lesson here is that you can never be certain in life.”

The Warriors lead by six points at halftime, but there is still hope at Jurassic Park.

“The boys just need to relax,” remarked Nikki Lee, a fan.

Toronto Mayor John Tory paid a visit and waded through the enormous crowd to interact with supporters.

The Warriors led by three points in the last minute of the game. Then, with 30 seconds left, he was

only one point ahead. It was Raptors ball with 15 seconds remaining, but Kyle Lowry missed a last-second jumper, resulting in a one-point loss.

“That one stings. “We had them right there,” claimed basketball coach Dalmar Ali, who was also watching the game from Jurassic Park. “But hey, it’s all right.”
