It made me think to myself, isn’t it wonderful to be a Newcastle United fan nowadays

Just over three weeks have passed since Newcastle United humiliated Chelsea under Pochettino at St. James’ Park, with Eddie Howe’s team winning 4-1 in the end.

Tonight, we will be playing the Blues in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal down the old Kings Road.

We will be entering another two-leg semi-final with the scent of Wembley in our nostrils if Newcastle United defeats them.

I’m not jumping the gun, only to clear up any confusion as a Newcastle United supporter. Chelsea should be prepared for this match following a largely lacklustre 2023–24 season.

it dawned on us that we were about to play in the Cup Final. I really enjoyed the way that emotion felt.

We appear to be having to go the traditional route in the League Cup this season. At Old Trafford, Manchester United was thrashed 3-0 after an outstanding victory at home against Manchester City.

At Stamford Bridge in September 2010, we played one of the few thrilling cup matches of the terrible Mike Ashley era.

Although Chris Hughton’s Toon team had a strong start to the season, not many of them gave us much optimism when they faced Carlo Ancelotti’s reigning Premier League Champions in the EFL Cup.

Newcastle United really upped the ante against Chelsea, scoring three goals in quick succession, the third of which was a stunning effort from outside the box by Shola Ameobi.

However, the Pensioners fought strongly, scoring twice to draw the game. Newcastle forced a corner on the left hand side in the ninetieth minute as the game was flying from end to end.

With a textbook header, Shola scored after Jonas Gutierrez whipped the ball in. Shola had risen like a salmon. The players celebrated in style, sending the travelling masses behind the goal into pure excitement.

In order to contextualise this outcome, our starting lineup contained players like Nile Ranger, Sol Campbell, and Haris Vuckic.

Sometime this evening, it would be great to have Sven Botman back in play, and I hope Alexander Isak has recovered from his nagging ailment and is back in the matchday roster. This also applies to Joelinton.

I have no doubt that Eddie Howe’s team will put out their best effort to advance us to the semi-finals.

I ran into my friend Paz this morning in Tynemouth just before seven in the morning. He was heading to the match with a modest backpack packed. It’s great to be a Newcastle United supporter these days, I thought to myself as I noticed the excitement on his beaming face.
