Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of talented midfielder Jacob Ramsey to a new five-year contract.

The 20-year-old came through Aston Villa’s youth system and spent time on loan at Doncaster Rovers before making his senior debut for the Villans in September 2020.

Ramsey became a first-team regular last season, appearing in 25 games across all competitions. He had an assist against Bristol City in the Carabao Cup but was unable to open his scoring account.

Ramsey, an England U21 international, is having a fantastic season this time around. His total from 31 games is six goals and one assist.

He has scored against Arsenal, Manchester United, and West Ham in the Premier League. Ramsey also scored twice in a 3-3 tie with Leeds United in February.

Rio Ferdinand believes that teams ‘much greater than Aston Villa’ may make an offer for Ramsey in the near future. Meanwhile, former midfielder Michael Thomas believes the prodigy should take the next step in his career by joining Arsenal.
