There are two players on the club that are vying to win the NFL MVP award. Typical of a quarterback, Brock Purdy is the one getting the most attention for it. He is currently the betting favourite because of this. The second guy being regarded as this season’s MVP is Christian McCaffrey, and he certainly deserves it.
It is impossible to exaggerate the impact he has on the 49ers offence. Defences are aware of his heavy involvement, which only serves to highlight how good he is becoming. His actions with the ball in his hands are not the only part of it. Even in the absence of it, he exerts significant influence by making defences take notice to him. His defences are constantly on high alert when he makes simple movements.
Without him, a lot of the 49ers’ offensive plays would be ineffective. Despite having a compelling argument, I do not believe McCaffrey will earn MVP. McCaffrey can win it this year by putting up amazing stats in the final three games of the season to help the 49ers secure the top seed. McCaffrey cannot only focus on scoring touchdowns and yards. He needs to make at least a few highlight plays per game to build more excitement around him.
If not, Purdy is most likely to receive the prize. All Purdy needs to do to help the 49ers secure the top seed is play mediocre the remaining games. To dethrone Purdy and other contenders for MVP, McCaffrey MUST continue to have incredible games with a few plays that fans can’t stop talking about. Considering his extraordinary talent, it’s not completely impossible. However, the cards are simply not in his favour.
It is likely that he will win the award for Most Offensive Player of the Year, while Purdy will receive the MVP honours.
