REPORT: Philadelphia Eagles Locker Room Has More Finger Pointing; Jalen Hurts’ Demeanor An Issue

Philadelphia Eagles

A new leak to the Philly Inquirer from the Philadelphia Eagles locker room takes aim at quarterback Jalen Hurts for his stoic demeanor in the middle of heavy stretch of adversity for the defending NFC Champions.

Reports came out last week that there was “finger-pointing” going on between Eagles teammates when the team had a 10-3 record. Things aren’t better after the Eagles dropped their third-straight game in a row when they blew a lead against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football in Week 15.

According to Jeff McLane with the Philadelphia Inquirer,  Eagles teammates are frustrated with how Hurts has handled the leadership duties in the locker room this season:

“Clearly, Hurts has so many of the intangibles to be an elite quarterback: passing and running abilities, a genuine work ethic, and a willingness to do everything it takes to be the best. But team sources said the Eagles want their franchise quarterback to open himself up a little more in the locker room.

Players like and respect Hurts. The team doesn’t have to worry about him off the field. The Eagles want him to be authentic to himself, but they also need him to not isolate himself as much when a more outward leadership style is necessary, especially when the going gets tough.”

The report’s timing is a little crazy, given how Hurts battled through illness to play against the Seahawks Monday night. But apparently, whoever leaked this story to McLane doesn’t think Hurts is giving the Eagles enough.
