The Green Bay Packers, who are 6-8 heading into Week 16, will be playing the pathetic Carolina Panthers (2-12). Darnell Savage, De’Vondre Campbell, and Luke Musgrave—who had been scheduled to return off injured reserve—are among the players who have already been ruled out due to injuries. Star running back Aaron Jones is no longer included on the injury report.
Naturally, Musgrave has missed the last four games due to a kidney laceration he sustained against the Los Angeles Chargers. Although there’s no denying that Green Bay lost out on their second-round pick in the tight end class of the 2023 NFL Draft, his absence has allowed them to evaluate what third-round pick Tucker Kraft has to offer.
In Musgrave’s absence, the former standout player from South Dakota State has performed admirably, racking up 13 receptions for 173 yards and two scores over the last four games. The Packers may have one of the top receiving tight end tandems in the NFL once Musgrave is cleared to play again.
Musgrave has not really said much since his injury, but spoke to reporters following practice on Friday. During this media session, he revealed a pretty gruesome detail about his injury:
As fans may remember, Musgrave finished the game despite knowing he had gotten hurt. Even though he was feeling a great deal of pain, he did not realize how serious the injury was. At the beginning of the clip above, Musgrave revealed that there was blood in his urine, and that is when he knew that something was seriously wrong.
Musgrave also revealed he had a Grade Four laceration to his kidney, which is the second-worst kind of laceration a person can suffer. Even though he will likely be unable to play pain-free anymore this season, he does hope he can come back in Week 17 or 18.
