After missing nine games due to a ruptured pectoral muscle, Buffalo Bills starting defensive tackle DaQuan Jones was given a three-week window to resume practicing and be activated from injured reserve.
New York’s ORCHARD PARK (AP) — After missing nine games due to a ruptured pectoral muscle, starting defensive tackle DaQuan Jones of the Buffalo Bills will have a three-week window to begin practice and be activated from injured reserve on Tuesday.
Although Jones has a good possibility of getting activated, head coach Sean McDermott stated it is unlikely that this will occur in time for Buffalo’s (8-6) trip to the Los Angeles Chargers (5-9) on Saturday.
After performing a walkthrough on Tuesday, the Bills will hold their only full practice of the week on Wednesday.
If Jones makes a comeback, he would strengthen Buffalo’s defensive line, which will be lacking Jordan Phillips, who underwent surgery on Sunday to treat a wrist ailment. Phillips is listed as out for the week.
With two straight victories, including a 31-10 victory over Dallas, the Bills are ranked ninth in the AFC and two positions out of the postseason picture with three weeks remaining in the season.
Earlier in the day, Jones gave a social media hint about his impending return by sharing an old photo of himself rehearsing with a happy face emoji.
Jones was one of three important defence players who spent a two-week period on injured reserve. On October 8, in a game played in London, linebacker Matt Milano (right leg) was also injured and missed time as the team lost 25-20 to Jacksonville. Tre’Davious White, the starting cornerback, ruptured his right Achilles tendon one week prior.
Based on information he’s heard from the medical staff, McDermott stated it’s unlikely Milano will be available to return this season, while White’s injury ended the season.
Von Miller, an edge rusher, was excused from practice to attend a funeral, according to McDermott, and he was scheduled to return to Buffalo on Tuesday night.
