Saban shares good and bad news from Alabama’s 26-20 win over Texas A&M

Football at Alabama persevered in the face of serious injuries and defeated Texas A&M 26–20 at Kyle Field.

The No. 11 Crimson Tide didn’t have the best day with 14 penalties and 2 turnovers. But Jermaine Burton and Jalen Milroe had career-high performances, and Alabama went on to win the SEC 5-1 and 3-0.

Nick Saban, the coach of UA, will soon speak with the media. For real-time developments, keep following along.

“Which would you prefer to discuss first, the positive or negative news?” With a smile on his face, Saban began his introduction.

Texas’s College Station You could hear what Nick Saban said to his wife if you were close enough—few feet away, just outside the security perimeter that around him.

With his Alabama team winning 26–20 over Texas A&M in a brutal slobberknocker on Saturday night, he walked off Kyle Field while hugging Terry Saban with a look of shock, almost surprise, stunned even.

Shaking his head doubtfully, he said to her, “Was that hard or what?”

And then, in so many words, he told the journalists the same thing moments later, crammed into what had to be the smallest room in one of the biggest stadiums in the nation.

The starting quarterback is dreadfully erratic; he fluctuates greatly on the field, going from strong to weak in an instant. The offensive line performed poorly enough to necessitate a midseason lineup adjustment. Spoken defence is offered. The running game may be terrible, and fumbles, clock management, and penalties are examples of self-inflicted wounds that are getting worse.

And yet, Alabama is 5-1 and leading the SEC West a month after Texas humiliated the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, the greatest home loss in the Saban Era, and after numerous people once more declared the dynasty to be extinct. The Tide have defeated two of the top 25 teams, including one right here on the road in an environment unlike any other that includes horses, cadets, and cowboy boots. Their upcoming schedule is challenging but manageable.

Jalen Milroe, the quarterback, and Jermaine Burton, his primary receiver, needed to have a scorching third-quarter performance on this sunny, crisp Texas day for Saban. His defence had to rack up four sacks in the fourth quarter, one of which resulted in a safety to give the team a two-score lead in the closing minutes that felt like game winning. Additionally, he required A&M coach Jimbo Fisher, an erstwhile protégé, to make a few dubious phone calls.

He need a plethora of additional elements to help his Tide overcome its many errors.

“What topic would you guys like to discuss?” As he walked into the press conference, Saban stated. “Is this better news or worse news? We possess a small amount of each.

For him, the good news is:

Alabama prevailed.

– With Alabama trailing 17–10 in the third quarter, Milroe made five of seven passes for the game-tying and eventual winning score.

– Terrion Arnold’s pass breakup of a potential touchdown reception; an interception by rookie defensive back Caleb Downs early in the third quarter that set up the Tide’s touchdown; and several more huge plays by the Tide defensive team
