Pau Torres of Aston Villa has moved past his “early season troubles.”

Pau Torres, a defender for Aston Villa, has occasionally displayed indications of inconsistency throughout his time at Villa Park. Journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT how he has overcome his early-season struggles under Unai Emery.

One of Villa’s largest summertime acquisitions, Torres has surely had a difficult start to the season as he adjusts to a new nation, league, and playing style after joining the team from Villarreal. Throughout the season, Emery has shown faith in the Spanish international, with whom he had previously collaborated while back home.

The Midlands team is playing in the top division of England, and they recently made it to the Europa Conference League knockout phase. They are also a contender to win the championship.

Although Tyrone Mings’ serious injury earlier in the season may have contributed to Torres’ consistency under Emery, the player has had setbacks this season. Jones stated to GIVEMESPORT back in September that Torres was “definitely struggling” in the early going of his Villa career.

Later in September, Jones even admitted to GIVEMESPORT that some Villa supporters had become tired of Torres and his lacklustre performance since he had signed a contract at Villa Park. The writer clarified that other Premier League clubs were put off by his lack of strength and aggression in the past, but that his skill with the ball has proven essential to Emery’s style of play this season.

According to MailOnline, Villa paid a substantial sum of £33 million to get Torres for Villa Park. A player will always feel more pressure because of the price tag, but he has begun to demonstrate why Emery’s hiring team was eager to have him signed.
