Bills DT Jordan Phillips Shares a Message Following Unexpected Surgery

In Week 15, the Dallas Cowboys (10-4) were defeated by the Buffalo Bills (8-6) at Highmark Stadium.

Before hurting his wrist, Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips had one tackle for a loss, one sack, one quarterback hit, and one pass defensed during the 31-10 thrashing. In the second half, the veteran departed the game and never came back.

On Monday, December 18, Bills head coach Sean McDermott disclosed to reporters that Phillips had surgery right away following the game. McDermott stated of Phillips, “We’ll know more as we continue here the next couple of days,” adding that he is being evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

Even if having surgery right after following a game is concerning, Phillips doesn’t appear that upset. The seasoned lineman teased the Cowboys on Monday after agreeing to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Bills this offseason. “Living life on the edge like I’m 237 #bigboy,” he said with a video he posted of himself sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
“Him,” said Bills punter Sam Martin. “Bro really killed the Cowboys then got surgery, wishing a speedy recovery,” a fan commented on social media.

According to WIVB, the 31-year-old underwent rotator cuff surgery in the summer and was placed on the physically unable to perform list for a portion of training camp. Since then, Phillips has played in every game this season, replacing DaQuan Jones in the starting lineup due to an injury.

Jordan Phillips has 15 total tackles, 5 quarterback hits, and 2.5 sacks thus far this season. The Bills still have four healthy defensive tackles on the roster: Ed Oliver, Linval Joseph, Tim Settle, and Poona Ford. Phillips won’t play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16.
