Mark Madden: Mike Tomlin should be fired by the Steelers
Coach Mike Tomlin ought to be let go as soon as this pointless Steelers season is over.
It’s enough to follow daddy and granddaddy’s every move. Fire the coach when it’s time for him to go.
The Steelers are meant to have stability since they will never have new coaches. Do you think these Steelers are stable?
Tomlin’s career has not gone well as a result of his more recent missteps. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is nothing near where Tomlin belongs. He is a phoney. He made an immediate impression on other people’s leaders, athletes, and cultures.
But in the previous six seasons, Tomlin has failed to win a playoff game. Of his 16 seasons prior, he has not won a postseason game. I’m sure he’ll extend those questionable remarks.
When the Steelers fell to a club that came into the game with a 2-10 record for the second time in a row on Thursday night, it was the lowest point ever.
It had never happened before that a winning team lost back-to-back games against a team that was at least eight games below.500. This is a first for the NFL.
Even stranger, both games were played at home.
The Steelers performed poorly, ill-prepared, and carelessly. The standard mishandling and bad coaching. discernible ambiguity. Poor choices.
Tomlin was stuttering about the “turnover component” and fighting in the second half of the movie after the jet crashed into the mountain.
Tomlin has a coach’s appearance and demeanour that begs for dismissal. Make him do something.
After Sunday’s loss to Arizona, Rich Eisen of the NFL Network predicted that Kirk Tomlin would “do his best work,” inexplicably attributing Tomlin’s success to extinguishing a fire that he had started. Tomlin didn’t, though. It may be necessary for ESPN’s Mike Greenberg to redefine “Tomlin-ing,” as the term has lost its positive connotation.
For years, the national media has been using Tomlin’s deception as an exceptional coach to further their own objectives. Simply put, Tomlin is a good coach. There isn’t much precise definition. “Playing for Tomlin is a love for the players.”
Tomlin may be about to break his record of never having a losing season. That would be beneficial. It would make judgement and vision more obvious. As he did in 2018, 2019, and 20, Tomlin is overseeing another collapse from a favourable position.
Mitch Trubisky, the quarterback, deserves more blame than you do since he had a terrible Thursday. He is now the only scapegoat, taking the place of fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Kenny Pickett made a name for himself by refusing to play.
You would want to hold the referees accountable for not penalising the Patriots for jumping offside during a Steelers punt in the fourth quarter, instead calling false start on long snapper Christian Kuntz. The Steelers would have still been 57 yards away even though the call was a little off.
You would much prefer overlook the appallingly overvalued and overpaid Steelers defence, which on Thursday night allowed the worst offence in the NFL to go 75 yards on eight plays and score a touchdown on the team’s opening drive. The Steelers weren’t defeated by Tom Brady. Zappe Bailey did.
It’s a mess, the Steelers. They have a foul culture. It’s leaderless and myself first.
Although not very strong, the roster is sufficient to defeat Arizona and New England.
In contrast to the fast-paced football that prevails in the NFL today, the Steelers’ approach is antiquated and bordering on archaic, and Tomlin is unwilling to change.
When it comes to all that has gone wrong, Tomlin is at the top of the pyramid.
Tomlin won’t ever be fired by the Steelers. It’s time to show that because the evidence is stronger than ever.
Tomlin may be tradeable to the Steelers. NFL teams are rumoured to be lining up to sign Tomlin as soon as he becomes available.
However, that rose may have lost its bloom. It’s not exactly secret what transpired versus Arizona and New England.
A gloomy time is upon the Steelers. Get ready for more of the same, and worse.
