Following the Astros’ ALCS defeat, Dusty Baker is allegedly prepared to leave his position as manager.

Dusty Baker’s tenure as the Houston Astros’ manager appears to be coming to an end.
In Game 7 of the ALCS on Monday, the Texas Rangers defeated the Astros 11-4, eliminating Houston’s hopes of going to the World Series for the third time in a row.
As reported by Chandler Rome and Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic, Baker has told several individuals within the squad that this will be his final season as manager. Baker has not confirmed anything, and when The Athletic directly questioned him about the claim, he did not respond.
74-year-old Baker recently concluded his 26th season as a Major League Baseball manager. His career regular-season record is 2,183-1,862, and in 2022 he earned a World Series championship with the Astros. In Houston, Baker had a 320-226 record, good for the second-best winning percentage in team history. In addition, he guided the Astros to two World Series championships and four consecutive ALCS runs.
After spending ten years as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (1968–1986), Baker began his managerial career in 1993 with the San Francisco Giants. After that, he spent four seasons as an employee of the Chicago Cubs, six seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, and two seasons with the Washington Nationals before moving to Houston in 2020.
The Astros will join the Giants, Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets as the fifth team in the league searching for a new manager this winter if Baker does decide to retire. Given that the Astros are out of the postseason, Baker will probably announce his decision in the next few days.
Baker doesn’t seem to be prepared to give up on the game entirely, even if it appears he intends to
step away from the daily operations of it. Rather, it seems like he wants to move into a front desk position.
Melissa, Baker’s wife, told The Athletic, “I know he has a lot of knowledge to offer an organisation when he is done managing.” “I’m sure he can contribute to creating a winner. My spouse is a winner who merely wants to win.
