‘It all starts with me,’ says Alabama football coach Nick Saban after his team’s loss to Texas.
In a press conference Saturday night, Alabama football coach Nick Saban addressed the Crimson Tide’s 34-24 loss to the Texas Longhorns.
“You know, this was a test, you know, for us,” Saban explained. “I told the players early in the week that this was going to be a test, that we were going to play a really good team and see where we stood as a team, and, um, this was a test for everybody.” It was a test for the coaches, a test for me, a test for all the players, and we obviously failed miserably.”
Much of the night, the offensive line was pushed around. Penalties were costly. The Tide is under new scrutiny after losing a pair of close games last season.
“It all starts with me, and I obviously let our team down in terms of how we were able to execute and play,” he said.
While Texas eventually won, Alabama put up a strong fight, with QB Jalroe making big plays both passing and running. He completed 14 of 27 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Saban expressed confidence in his players and the programme for the remainder of the season.
“I believe in these players, these players have worked hard,” he said. “The stadium had a great atmosphere tonight, and I appreciate the fans.” They certainly did their part; we simply did not do ours well enough. As I previously stated, it all starts with me, but we’re going to do everything we can to get it right and fixed.”
