Tyrick Mitchell injury: As the defender is evaluated, Crystal Palace will ascertain the degree of muscular strain

Tyrick Mitchell’s hip injury, which he sustained during Wednesday’s 2-0 home loss to Bournemouth, will be examined by Crystal Palace.

The only recognized left-back on the team, Mitchell, was sent off in the 29th minute of play and is not expected to play in Saturday’s early kickoff against Liverpool at home.

The 24-year-old is said to have suffered a muscular strain, and his probable absence would be the most recent in a string of defeats for Palace boss Roy Hodgson, who is under duress.

“We play on Saturday, and it’s Wednesday night,” stated Hodgson following the game. There is a hip injury that involves the muscle, and it will be evaluated. I’ll find out before the weekend, but if he is [passed fit], I’ll be shocked.

“We don’t know [the severity] yet. It was an unfortunate injury to a player who is in good form and playing well. We’d be very upset to lose him, but it’s a muscle strain and my relationship with muscle strains at Crystal Palace is not a good one.”

Pressure mounted on Hodgson after Wednesday’s defeat to Bournemouth, which left Palace winless in four matches heading into a run of fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton and Chelsea.

Twenty three year old defensive midfielder Doucoure will also be a big miss from the team and the latest news is they have now been joined by Rob Holding although the former Arsenal defender is yet to play a Premier League game this season

Palace  midfielder Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and keeper Dean Henderson also both “ruled out” along with crucial figures as the team look to recover from a slump which has seen them win just one of the last six games.

The Hammers are remaining tight lipped about the problems surrounding Jarrod Bowen who has been suffering a knee injury and sickness problems issues involving Mohammed Kudus, Vladimir Coufal and Edson Alvarez.
