Jaiyden Hunt is one player who has stated that he wants to take Capewell’s place. Recognising that he has prepared his game, he is prepared to prove to the team in preseason that he is the ideal candidate to take over.

According to Hunt, via SMH, “It’s more his chat and work off the ball; he’s always got his edge, and he’s the leader of that edge in defence.”

The major thing I observe is that when you are a superb edge defender, your halves don’t have to make as many tackles.”

“I’m whatever [coach] Kevvie Walters wants, and whatever the team needs.” I’ll play backrow if that’s what he wants me to do; if it’s the middle, that’s what I’ll do.

I will put in my best effort in each and every one of those roles. The Broncos told me they were interested in me when I called them because I’m large enough to play both middle and backrow, so there was a great chance for me to come off the bench and cover both positions.

The 25-year-old Hunt is used to competing for his place on the squad as he becomes comfortable with his new group. Given the restricted number of forward places available for the Broncos, he is better than most at fighting for his future.

The forward claimed that even though he still had a year left on his deal, Shane Flanagan made it clear to him that he was not needed at the team and had no part in its future.

Hunt said, “I was told at the Dragons that I still had a contract there for next year, but there wasn’t really a spot for me there with the reshuffle and new coaches.”

Then, without warning, my manager called to let me know that the Broncos were very interested in

I didn’t play rugby league very well when I was younger; I just did it for pleasure, and then it just kind of took off.”I’ve always had to fight every step of the way; I was never in the Queensland sides growing up or the up-and-coming sides.
