Colts welcome back key defensive lineman for Week 14 clash vs. Bengals

The Indianapolis Colts are without a doubt one of the most pleasant shocks of the 2023–24 season, but their ardent supporters will now perceive anything less than a postseason berth as a letdown. These following four weeks have a comfortable schedule, however no club should be fully ignored. This Sunday’s road game against the Cincinnati Bengals is the first of them.

The Indianapolis Colts special teams unit deserves their respect

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts cut wide receiver Juwann Winfree and activated defensive tackle Grover Stewart from the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list to the 53-man roster on Saturday. The 30-year-old recently completed his six-game ban for breaking the NFL’s anti-performance-enhancing substance policy.

When Stewart apologised formally in October, he said he was unaware that he had violated the league’s substance regulation. In the first six games of the 2017 season, the fourth-round selection from 2017 has recorded 20 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, and nine total pressures. He is a valuable member of Indianapolis’ defensive line. Gus Bradley, the defensive coordinator for the Colts, is hoping to have an instant impact on a team that gives up the sixth-most points per game.

Aside from Grover Stewart’s personal feelings, Indianapolis should have extremely high expectations going into a game with significant playoff ramifications. The Colts (7-5) may be forced out of the top seven and into desperation mode with a defeat to the Bengals (6-6). This most recent roster modification might guarantee that doesn’t occur.

This weekend, the Indianapolis Colts (7-5) will go east on I-74 to play the Cincinnati Bengals (6-6), a cunning opponent. However, they will be without two important defensive players, linebacker E.J. Speed and cornerback JuJu Brents.

The Colts formally declared Speed (knee) and Brents (quad) to be doubtful after practice on Friday, but on Saturday the team downgraded both players to out.

Despite Brents’ first practice return this week, the Colts will be without him for the sixth straight game. This season, the rookie has appeared in five games (four of which he has started), totaling 24 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovered, one interception, and three pass breakups.
