Kevin O’Connell will take the helm as head coach of the Vikings on Thursday.
Our brief local nightmare is now over.
Kevin O’Connell was cheering the Los Angeles Rams on to a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI less than 48 hours ago from the sidelines of SoFi Stadium. After the Super Bowl, there had been conjecture for a few weeks that O’Connell would become our Minnesota Vikings’ new head coach. However, the last few days have seen little progress on that front, which has led to some anxiety on social media.
Alternatively put, “had caused.”
According to Adam Schefter, the Vikings will formally introduce O’Connell as the tenth head coach in team history on Thursday.
This makes sense—O’Connell would undoubtedly take part in Wednesday’s Super Bowl victory parade, which is scheduled to take place for the Rams. He can travel to Minnesota for his inaugural press conference following the parade, ushering in a new era of Vikings football.
Ladies and gentlemen, our little nightmare specific to this region is over. After all, Kevin O’Connell is not going to desert the Minnesota Vikings at the altar. Probably a good thing, because if he had, all these potential coaching hires would have looked a little foolish, wouldn’t they?
