Honestly, I don’t understand how they manage to retain all of their people.

Over the previous few days, the 2023 NFL season has progressed. During Week 13, a number of former Tennessee players were active and had successful performances. Hendon Hooker’s return to practise and Jauan Jennings’ first touchdown since 2022 were the highlights for the VFL contingent. In addition to rookie Princeton Fant making his NFL debut, Alvin Kamara and Darrell Taylor each produced huge plays for their teams.

In the most recent edition of our weekly feature, GoVols247 examines how each former Tennessee player performed during the 13th week of the NFL season.

With their dominance against the Philadelphia Eagles, who had only one loss, the 49ers made the NFL statement of the week. It was only right that Jauan Jennings found the end zone in such a fierce game. Early in the fourth quarter, the bruising wide receiver took an 18-yard touchdown pass, brushed off a defender, and waltzed into the end zone. Jennings was targeted four times for a total of 44 yards on three passes: an eight-yard completion on third-and-9 (San Francisco converted the fourth down) early in the fourth quarter, just before his touchdown, which also came on third down, and an eight-yard completion on third-and-5 early in the third quarter.

Hendon Hooker made significant progress in his efforts to resume his football career a little over a year after tearing his ACL at South Carolina. Following a 21-day practise window, the third-round pick—who has been on the Non-Football Injury/Reserve List since late August—returned to the Lions’ practise field. Though it is unknown if he will make his debut this season, Hooker’s return to practise was undoubtedly significant to him and high-flying Detroit as they rode quarterback Jared Goff to a 9-3 record and a commanding lead atop the NFC North.

According to the Lions’ official website, Hooker stated during his first practise, “I just want to get better every day 1%.” “Remain in my playbook, keep asking questions, and keep improving.” Simply going out there and running through the plays, chatting with the players and finding out what they are seeing on the pitch was enjoyable. Simply said, feeling like a baller again feels nice.

In the Seahawks’ Thursday Night Football loss against the Cowboys, linebacker Darrell Taylor stepped up to make a major play in prime time and increased his sack total. In his fourth NFL season, the 2020 second-round pick has accumulated up to 4.5 sacks. Taylor recorded two tackles, one sack, and two quarterback hits at the game’s conclusion.

Alvin Kamara, the premier running back for the Saints, scored twice this week, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lions at home. Setting a new franchise record for the Saints, Kamara ran for 51 yards on 16 carries and scored from 2 yards out in the third quarter and from 1 yard out in the fourth. These were his third and fourth rushing touchdowns of the year and his 53rd overall. Eight targets were made on Kamara, who also added six catches for 58 yards
