The centre back suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee while playing for the Football Ferns internationally, according to scans.
The 21-year-old Van der Meer was hurt during the Sunday morning warm-up for the Ferns’ game against Colombia in Bogotá.
Her recuperation period could last nine to twelve months.
