Columbus, Ohio The coaching staff at Ohio State University, led by football coach Ryan Day, has supported the players’ decision to keep the 2020 college football season going.
The coaching staff of the Buckeyes has been outspoken on social media, and on Monday night, Day stated on ESPN2’s College Football Live programme that he did not believe a decision needed to be made just yet. He gave the conference-only schedule’s flexibility as justification. He declared that if the season had to be postponed, he would be more in favour of it.
Day stated, “We cannot cancel the season at this time.” “We need to give ourselves some time to reassess the situation, or at the very least, postpone it. To allow for some flexibility, that is why we created this schedule. Let’s take a deep breath if that is what is necessary. We have a responsibility to these children to pursue every avenue available to us, and then decide how to proceed.
Day claimed that despite speaking with Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith on the phone several times a day, he was “caught off guard” by rumours that conference presidents had decided to postpone the season; these rumours have not been verified by the Big Ten.
The statement made by Day was, “We cannot cancel the season at this time.” “We must allow ourselves some time to reconsider the matter, or at the very least, put it off. That is why we designed this schedule with some leeway. If it’s necessary, let’s take a deep breath. It is our duty to these kids to exhaust all of our options before determining how to move forward.
Day said that he was “caught off guard” by rumours that conference presidents had decided to postpone the season, even though he had spoken with Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith on the phone multiple times a day. The Big Ten has not confirmed these rumours.
