It was an exciting experience for me to receive the call from Kevvie since, although I played rugby league for pleasure when I was younger, it quickly took off and has been a dream since I was given the opportunity to play for the Dragons, according to Hunt.
He said, “This place is all about mateship and hard labour, with an amazing club atmosphere. In a moment, I leaped to my feet.
I played rugby league for fun when I was younger, but it didn’t really take off. It’s been a dream since I was given the chance to play for the Dragons, so it was thrilling when I received the call from Kevvie,” Hunt remarked.
“He mentioned this place had a fantastic club culture and was all about mateship and hard effort. I leaped to my feet in a hurry.
They were pleased that I could cover all positions and play in the middle and back rows. The news was thrilling to hear.
Former St. Thomas More College student Hunt used to play alongside current teammate Billy Walters at Easts Tigers in Brisbane, as well as older Walters brother Jack. Hunt grew up idolising then-Broncos Jahral Yow Yeh, Corey Parker, and Ben Hunt, who he would go on to play alongside down south.
Arriving in Brisbane with a reputation for hard work, he was elevated to the Dragons team off a train and trial contract originally. Now, he’s back and ready to compete for a bench spot in ’24.
“I was never in the Queensland teams, the rising sides, coming up; I’ve always had to fight my way through; I think I’m just accustomed to it.
“Anybody can take the bench spots, and I’m ready to leap up and take them.”
