Jake Browning of the Bengals outperforms Trevor Lawrence in overtime as the team defeats the Jaguars.

Jacksonville, Florida According to Jake Browning, the true surprise came with his first career start. Everyone else would be in disagreement.

In contrast to his four-sack, two-turnover performance a week earlier, Browning’s 354 yards and touchdown pass in his second start helped the Cincinnati Bengals upset the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-31 in overtime on Monday night.

Coach Zac Taylor remarked, “He just lit the world on fire.”

For the first time since 1990, the Bengals (6-6) triumphed on “Monday Night Football” on the road thanks to a touchdown run from Browning.

A nine-game road losing streak on MNF and a three-game losing streak on the season were ended by Evan McPherson’s 48-yard field goal in overtime.

“You’re eager to get another shot after you put up 10 points in your first start,” Browning remarked.

The Jaguars (8-4) lost quarterback Trevor Lawrence to a sprained right ankle late in the fourth quarter, making this one unexpected and possibly expensive.

Left-handed tackle Lawrence was nearly fired when Walker Little stepped on his ankle.

In an attempt to stand, Lawrence fell to the ground, tore off his helmet, and threw it in disgust.

After being helped off the pitch and into the tunnel, he had negative X-rays.

Wearing crutches and a walking boot, Lawrence exited the changing area.

In a new horror for the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence sprains his right ankle against the Bengals.
To ascertain the extent of the injury, he will undergo additional testing on Tuesday.

Lawrence finished the night with a stellar 22 of 29 pass completion percentage for 259 yards and two touchdowns. He went for a score as well.

Instead of star Joe Burrow, who watched and coached from the sidelines while donning a cast and sling, Browning was just as stout.

In addition to leading the overtime drive that resulted in McPherson’s field goal, Browning completed 32 of 37 passes.

Early in the game, McPherson, who attended nearby Florida for his collegiate career, hit a 57-yard field goal off the crossbar in the same direction. In relief of Lawrence, Jackson backup quarterback C.J. Beathard completed 9 of 10 passes for 63 yards.
