Derrick Henry, a star for the Titans, reportedly left Sunday’s game and was put in the concussion protocol.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that star running back Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans is reportedly in the NFL’s concussion protocol after leaving Sunday’s game with an injury.

In the fourth quarter of the team’s 31-28 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Henry was hurt. Henry left the game and went to his locker room without wearing a helmet after being assessed in the blue tent on the sidelines. Henry was replaced for the remainder of the game by rookie Tyjae Spears.

Henry’s status for the Titans’ matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14 may be in doubt due to the injury. Since the teams play on Monday night, Henry will have an extra day to heal.

Henry was having a great game against Indianapolis before he got injured. On 22 carries, he gained 102 yards and two touchdowns in the air. Henry also had an 18-yard reception on one pass. Once he entered the game, Spears produced similar stats, rushing for 75 yards on 16 carries.

Henry is in the last year of his contract with the Titans, which he inked in 2020 for a four-year, $50 million extension. In 12 games, he has rushed for 841 yards and eight touchdowns, demonstrating his high level of production in his walk year.

Henry will be cleared by the league’s concussion protocol before he can play again. Though it’s not a given, he might miss the team’s game against the Dolphins. Chris Olave, a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, sustained a concussion in Week 12 but was able to play in Week 13 after clearing the protocol.

Spears should handle most of the backfield duties if Henry is unable to play.
