Harper is happy about it and hasn’t voiced any complaints because it has allowed the team to make significant financial additions to the roster. They will play in the World Series and the NLCS again in 2023 as a result of it.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today, however, reports that a major contract extension for first baseman Bryce Harper may be imminent, and the Phillies are open to discussing. “Agent Scott Boras is seeking a contract extension for first baseman Bryce Harper, and even though his contract doesn’t expire until after the 2031 season, the Phillies are willing to talk,” Nightengale writes. “But in a different vein, Harper is worth far more to the organization and the city than $26 million a season.”
An extension could guarantee Harper stays in Philadelphia for the remainder of his career and is inducted into the Phillies Hall of Fame, giving him a little extra yearly income.
Though it goes against the grain, you try to treat Bryce Harper as the face of your franchise.
