As the 2024 preseason gets underway, two teams are reportedly still keeping an eye on Brisbane Broncos utility back Tristan Sailor.

The 25-year-old, who had a protracted absence from the game toward the end of his tenure at the Dragons due to off-field issues, is still bound to Red Hill for the upcoming campaign.

He took advantage of his QLD Cup form and played a few games for the Broncos when Reece Walsh was sidelined when he was given the chance to play at the first-grade level.

His performance in Round 13 of the club’s regular season was exceptional, and he even outperformed himself against the Melbourne Storm in the year’s final regular season game.

According to Love Rugby League, Sailor’s services for the upcoming season have been brought to the attention of at least two elite Super League teams.

According to the publication, negotiations have been going on behind closed doors regarding whether or not they will present an offer to the management group of Sailor or the Brisbane Broncos.

It has been previously reported that Sailor’s management made several Super League clubs an offer to sign him while he was still under contract at Red Hill, and the utility was interested in making the move.

Though it’s unclear if Hull FC and Catalans Dragons are still interested in his services, at the time, they were said to be admirers.

Sailor will move from a development contract to a spot on the Brisbane Broncos’ Top 30 roster after signing a contract extension in July that will keep him with the team for at least the next two seasons.

According to a club statement, Sailor stated, “I’m very excited to stay here – the club has stood by me and been very good to me, so I’d like to repay the favour.”

“I gave it a lot of thought, but I really believe that we’re creating a fantastic team and culture here at the Broncos because of the fantastic atmosphere there.

“The Broncos are such a prestigious team in and of themselves, so it’s amazing to be creating our own legacy alongside them.”

After Sailor signed a contract with the team in July, coach Walters called him a “real footballer.”Walters stated, “Since joining us at the beginning of the preseason, Tristan has been really impressive. He is a real footballer and he has worked hard and is now reaping the rewards for that dedication.”

“He has been playing some amazing football in the Cup, and he has also stepped up when we needed him in first grade, performing admirably for his team.”

He is a valuable asset to the team off the field, and I have no doubt that his father, Wendell, and his entire family will be proud that he is carrying on their legacy by playing football for the Broncos.
