Although the last ten years have been difficult for Detroit sports fans, things are starting to get better now (at least for the Lions and Wolverines).

However, the Pistons—who are currently on a 17-game losing streak—will continue to set the franchise record for the longest losing streak until they win again. This week, the Detroit sports media went above and beyond to highlight the Pistons’ problems. A number of them brought up the fact that the Lions (10-3) have actually WON MORE games than the Pistons (9-53) this year.Though it’s awful for the Pistons, is it also bad historically? Let’s dissect it.#

Being one of the worst teams in Detroit sports history is HARD.

There was the infamous 2008 Lions season (0-16), the 2003 Tigers season (43-119), and even the 1979–80 Pistons season (16–66).

Even though the Lions’ season without a win seems unbeatable, the Pistons of this year might be comparable given how many games are played in the NBA.

With the exception of the 2008 Lions, Detroit has the WORST record in the NBA (2-17) and a winning percentage of.105, which is worse than any team in the city’s history. The team did not win any games in November.

That is incredibly terrible, and when you consider the wider picture, it becomes even worse. The Lions, at least, finished 7-9 in 2007 and eventually returned to form in 2011 with a 10-6 campaign.

The Pistons, on the other hand, finished 17-65 last season—the second-worst winning percentage in the team’s history—and there won’t be a turnaround unless they land some quality players in the upcoming draught.

For a once-proud team that made it to the NBA Finals in 2004 and 2005, the situation is depressing. Right now, the best thing for supporters to do might be to cheer for more defeats in the hopes that it will result in some much-needed adjustment.

The New Orleans Saints are in dire need of a victory to get back on track and remain in the running for the NFC South division title, which may be the only way Derek Carr and company make it into the playoffs after back-to-back losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons.

The Saints and Lions will square off in Week 13 at Caesars Superdome in the Big Easy. To stay competitive against one of the best teams in the NFC, the team may get one of its best offensive weapons back on the field.

Star wide receiver Chris Olave has been in the concussion protocol; however, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that after participating fully in practise on Friday, he may be that much closer to exiting that protocol.
