Santiago Gimenez has been linked with both Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, but according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Feyenoord striker will not be playing in the Premier League in January.

It’s difficult enough to persuade a club to sell their star striker in the middle of the season.

Feyenoord, on the other hand, must defend their Eredivisie title against AZ Alkmaar and a faultless PSV Eindhoven. The reigning Dutch champions, led by Arne Slot, have European ambitions as well.

So, even if Fulham or Tottenham Hotspur intend to increase their interest in Santiago Gimenez in the coming weeks, one of the most reliable reporters in the business does not expect the Mexican striker to join the Premier League before June ‘at the earliest’.

Tottenham are the ‘closest’ to acquiring Santiago Gimenez.
“Gimenez definitely feels like someone we should keep an eye on in general,” Ornstein tells The Athletic. “However, he has not been mentioned as a serious candidate for English teams in the January window.”

“I believe this is primarily due to Feyenoord having him under contract until 2027 and needing to keep him for the time being.”

“As is always the case, never say never.” But, for the time being, it appears that a relocation will take place no later than next summer.”

Gimenez, an instinctive finisher who presses as well as shoots, has nearly as many goals this season as he did in 2022/23. The former Cruz Azul poacher has found the net 18 times in all competitions.
