Anthony Davis suffers two separate injuries and is forced to leave the Lakers’ game against the Timberwolves.
Anthony Davis suffered a right ankle injury in the first quarter and a left knee injury in the third before leaving the game; Los Angeles Lakes lose 110-92 to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers was injured twice in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, first in his right ankle and then in his left knee.
Davis will have an MRI on Saturday, according to coach Frank Vogel. In 20 minutes against the Timberwolves, he had nine points and one rebound.
Davis landed on the leg of Minnesota’s Naz Reid late in the first quarter and collapsed to the floor in obvious pain, clutching his right ankle. Davis was able to walk gingerly into the locker room on his own for further examination. Before getting hurt, he had six points in 11 minutes.
Davis returned to the bench and re-entered the game late in the second quarter. However, about halfway through the third quarter, the eight-time All-Star center collided with Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels and was unable to put weight on his left knee. He left the floor once more, this time for the duration of the night.
Davis missed two games last week due to left knee pain. He returned on Wednesday with 20 points and 12 rebounds against Dallas.
The Lakers were already short-handed with major Covid-19 issues. They had six players in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and Trevor Ariza also remained unavailable due to injury.
