Maloney’s car catches fire on the final morning of the F2 test, Hadjar fastest
The final morning of Formula 2 post-season testing at Yas Marina Circuit saw Isack Hadjar finish fastest; however, the session was cut short when Zane Maloney’s car caught fire.
Three and a half minutes into the three-hour session, Franco Colapinto of MP Motorsport set the fastest lap time. However, he was only able to hold the top spot for less than two minutes, as Juan Manuel Correa of DAMS posted a time of 1m47.527s before improving to 1m37.185s on his subsequent lap.
After two consecutive improvements, his teammate Jak Crawford was next to the top, bringing the pace down to 1m36.551s.
After ten minutes, Colapinto came back to the top spot with a time of 1m36.461s. That was the fastest lap time for sixteen minutes until Hadjar of Campos Racing recorded a time of 1 minute, 36.180 seconds. He would stay at the top.
