The Detroit Lions highlight the coaching staff’s ties to the New Orleans Saints.

The Detroit Lions have a long history with the New Orleans Saints. Prior to their matchup in Week 13, the Lions highlighted former Saints players who are now on the Detroit coaching staff. We’ve detailed the connections on each roster here.

Saints fans will remember Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn for their time as coaches, but they also wore the fleur-de-lis on their helmets. Glenn and Campbell both played for the Saints in their final seasons, in 2008 and 2009.

Former Saints quarterbacks J.T. Barrett and Mark Brunell join them. In 2008 and 2009, Brunell was a backup quarterback in New Orleans. His schedule coincided with that of Campbell and Glenn. Barrett is the eldest of the four children. He began his NFL career with the Saints in 2018. Barrett, like Brunell, played for the Saints at the same time as Campbell and Glenn. The difference is that both were New Orleans coaches at the time. On Sunday, these four will return to a place they once called home as opposing coaches.

Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Detroit Lions, is probably not for you if you have a weak stomach. Campbell, who is a fiery personality off the field, brought that same intensity to the Lions’ 41-38 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.

During the victory, Campbell went for it on fourth down five times. While analytics may agree with Campbell’s aggressiveness most of the time, there were times when Campbell passed up field goals in order to take that risk. It

mostly worked out, as his team converted four of five fourth-down chances.

When asked about those aggressive decisions during a radio interview on Tuesday, Campbell… began talking about diapers.
