Paul Brown has labelled Mohammed Kudus as a “stellar” signing for West Ham United and has shared his verdict on the Ghanaian’s impact behind the scenes.
The 23-year-old has started excellently at the London Stadium since arriving from Ajax in the summer, scoring twice in the Premier League and picking up another two strikes in the Europa League group stages.
While supporters have been impressed by Kudus’ early form with the Hammers, Brown has revealed that the attacking midfielder has had a similar impact on the dressing room as he appears to lift the mood of all the players around him.
As quoted by Give Me Sport (29 November) he said: “I am really expecting him to go on and have a big season. I think West Ham have made a stellar signing here. He is someone who seems to have fitted nicely into the group.
“He always has a smile on his face when I see him around the club, and he seems to be one of those players who just lifts the dressing room.
“He comes across as a happy person to be around, and I think that’s a good asset to have. He has brought a lot of good things to West Ham.”
Every one of West Ham’s summer signings have brought something new to Moyes’ side, whether it be the superb dead-ball ability possessed by James Ward-Prowse, the defensive presence of Konstantinos Mavropanos or the work ethic of Edson Alvarez.
On top of that Kudus has brought with him a level of technical ability on the ball that is not only fresh to the Hammers attack but also for much of the Premier League. The Ghanaian has shown him immense quality on the ball in recent weeks and has taken to English football like a duck to water.
Bigger than all of that however is the impact he is reportedly having on his teammates. According to Brown Kudus is well-liked at the London Stadium and has brought the best out of some of the players around him by lifting the dressing room.
Too often in the past, the Hammers have signed players that have had a positive impact on the pitch, but a negative one off of it as they have little or no interest in succeeding with the Hammers. Kudus couldn’t be much further from that sort of player.
Hopefully, he can continue to go from strength to strength and have the big season for the Irons that has been predicted.
