West Brom injury news as Carlos Corberan addresses the absence of Nathaniel Chalobah after the win over Ipswich
Nathaniel Chalobah will be assessed ahead of West Brom’s midweek trip to Cardiff City after the midfielder missed Saturday evening’s 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at The Hawthorns. Chalobah has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent weeks after struggling to make an early impression, but his availability is in doubt this coming week.
Chalobah started against Southampton before the recent international break, but he left the pitch before the hour mark in some discomfort and trained against that pain this past week. On Friday, before the Ipswich game, the midfielder was assessed and he was consequently ruled out of the squad.
Whether he’ll be back available to Corberan for the visit to Cardiff on Tuesday, however, remains to be seen and the Spaniard has confirmed that he’ll be in a position to make a late call on his inclusion in the next couple of days.
“He received a kick at Southampton and had a pain in the knee. He was training normally in the international break, with this pain, but after training yesterday there was inflammation and so he was out of the squad today,” Corberan confirmed. “I need to see. Normally it’s not a long-term injury, but I need to see if it’s only days or if he needs more time.”
