Werder Bremen have ruled out selling Marvin Ducksch in January, despite Premier League clubs Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United showing interest in the Bundesliga striker.

Werder Bremen appear to have little appetite for losing Marvin Ducksch’s final-third talents just a few months after losing last season’s Bundesliga (joint) Golden Boot winner Niclas Fullkrug to Borussia Dortmund.

Ducksch, a late bloomer who made his Germany debut this month at the age of 29, has taken over from Fullkrug, with an outstanding start to the season catching the eye of Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest (Sky’s Christian Falk and BILD).

However, Werder sporting director Clemens Fritz believes that interest is unimportant. Ducksch says he’ll finish the season where he started. The Weserstadion is where it’s at.

“A winter transfer is not an option for us,” Fritz says to Bild.

Ducksch, who is valued at £13 million, has already contributed ten goals to the Bundesliga this season. His magnificent free-kick against Wolfsburg a few weeks ago – which clipped the woodwork on its way in, just to add to the aesthetics – helped earn him a spot in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for the November international break.

Werder Bremen’s ace “(Ducksch) brings a good amount of madness, which we need.” “He can be very valuable,” explains the former Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig manager to BuliNews.

“He now has a very good record, and his performances have helped to stabilize Bremen.” His set pieces are excellent, and he is an excellent finisher.”

Ducksch’s versatility is an important asset in addition to his devilish dead-balls and excellent ball-striking ability. He has thrived as a centre-forward this season, but he enjoyed playing off the targetman Fullkrug last season, and it’s not difficult to imagine Ducksch wreaking havoc alongside Callum Wilson or Taiwo Awoniyi.
