Over £6,000 is raised for the MND coach by Exeter City’s Party in the Park.
An enjoyable occasion held at Exeter City Football Club raised money for a cherished coach who is suffering from motor neurone disease.
At the well-attended annual Party in the Park hosted by Exeter City Football Club, hundreds of people contributed over £6,000 towards a worthy cause.
The free event this summer raised money for Pete Eveleigh, the inclusion coach for Exeter City Community Trust, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in November of last year at the age of thirty. The proceeds of the fundraiser were given to Team Evo – The Fight Against MND.
Through contributions on the day and an online auction, a total of £6,160 was raised. The money will be used to pay for Pete’s future medical expenses as well as to support his family.
The family, according to Pete’s wife Jess, is extremely appreciative of everyone who donated to the fundraising.
“For a long time, Exeter City and the Community Trust have played a significant role in Pete’s life,” she continued. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed and to the club for their kind donation of the collection to Pete.
“It was a fantastic event,” said Clive Harrison, chair of the club’s Supporter Experience Committee, “which also included the reveal of the club’s new kit for this season, as well as appearances from our men’s,
teams for women and parasports. We are grateful to everyone who came and made such kind donations.
Exeter City Community Trust’s head of participation, Scott Walker, expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped make the day a success.
“We were able to raise awareness of MND, its impact, and the daily struggle that Pete Eveleigh and his family face,” he continued.
Additionally, it was a chance to highlight our family ethos, the Exeter City Community Trust, and the football team. We had things to do for kids as young as three and as old as 83, and that day was enjoyable for everyone.
“A huge thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work,” Scott continued. Pete and his family will be able to create some wonderful memories together with the help of the money raised.
