After groin surgery, Taiwo Awoniyi may be sidelined for up to four months, so Nottingham Forest may need to look elsewhere in January for a striker.

After undergoing yet another surgery to address his persistent groin issue, Steve Cooper confirmed today that the Niger

Cooper needs a new striker badly because Chris Wood’s contract is up at the end of the current campaign and Divock Origi might rejoin AC Milan in January.

These are the three players that we believe Cooper and the group should focus on during this window.

Guirassy Serhou
Serhou Guirassy may seem like an obvious choice, but Forest should make every effort to bring him to the City Ground.

With eleven games played, Guirassy has already scored fifteen goals in the league this season, including two hat-tricks against Mainz and Wolfsburg. His goals have propelled Stuttgart to third place in the Bundesliga.

The 27-year-old only became a permanent member of Stuttgart this summer following an outstanding loan stint the previous season, but as part of his new contract, he has an incredible €20 million release clause.

Dallinga Thijs
Although Thijs Dallinga of Toulouse hasn’t been mentioned in relation to Forest, the team ought to be aiming for a January transfer of the striker.

With seven goals in 16 appearances this season, including both home and away against Liverpool in the Europa League, the 23-year-old striker has looked impressive so far.

However, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth—all Premier League teams—would compete with the Reds if they were to pursue the Dutchman.

Back in August, Marcos Leonardo Cooper’s team expressed interest in signing the 20-year-old Brazilian, but a deal never came to pass.

If Forest decides to make another push for Leonardo, they will have fierce competition from Newcastle United, a Premier League team that is also considering the Brazilian U20 international.

Santos has had a difficult season in the Brazilian Serie A, but Leonardo, who is rumored to be worth £20 million, has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances.
