Jhon Arias acknowledges that it is not shocking to hear reports that he is interested in joining Rangers, despite Fluminense being the Copa Libertadores champions.
Late last month, Jhon Arias and Rangers were connected through TEAMtalk. However, everything that has surfaced
since then points to Philippe Clement not wanting to hold his breath. Globo Esporte reports that Fluminense is attempting to raise closer to £17 million, while Russian powerhouse Zenit St Petersburg has had their bid of £10.5 million rejected.
Perhaps a deal with the riches of Champions League football could have been made. But the likelihood of Arias ending up at Ibrox can probably best be characterised as “slim” in the absence of the UCL to bolster Clement’s finances.
The 26-year-old, however, is not surprised by the rumours, stating to Caracol Radio that Fluminense has been getting ready for this day for a long time.
“(The rumours are) something that is typical and natural. The Colombian international says, “As the days and time pass, more offers and proposals will arrive and many more interested clubs will arrive.”
The club is aware of it and has already had a conversation about it.
“We will need to make decisions in order to finish the year well, but it doesn’t surprise the club or me because it was already anticipated.”
The English Premier League’s Wolves, West Ham, and Burnley are among the teams that have expressed interest in signing Arias, according to the agent of the player earlier this week.
Expert on South America Tim Vickery, on the other hand, thinks that Fluminense’s “dynamic” and “very versatile” Arias has been their best player thus far in 2023—better than Liverpool target Andre Trindade, who is valued at £30 million.
Arias continues, “I don’t like to put myself into x and y league or club.” “I’ll take the approach that I believe will benefit me the most in terms of football. I am appreciative of everything Fluminense has provided for me.
“I am unable to discuss my plans to stay or go today. I’ll choose the wisest course of action when the time comes.
