The custodian for the Hammers and the first Frenchman to win the Premier League Save of the Month Award is the shot-blocker.

The 30-year-old won the award for October after making a diving stop to stop Douglas Luiz, an Aston Villa midfielder, during the match at Villa Park.

According to the official Premier League website, “West Ham custodian Areola dived full-length to his left to tip over

a powerful long-range strike by the Brazilian,” making the score 0-0 after 11 minutes at Villa Park. “He is the first Frenchman to receive the honour, as well as the first goalie for West Ham.”

Areola can be proud of his performance on October 22 even though the hosts ran wild in a 4-1 victory, meaning the Hammers did not win the match at Villa Park.

The keeper made some excellent saves to limit the score as much as possible; most notably, he stopped a curling long-range strike from Luiz early on.

Even after he stopped Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure’s effort during the match at the London Stadium a week later, the Frenchman was nominated for the award again in October.

Having replaced Lukasz Fabianski as the starting goalie for Premier League games, he has undoubtedly performed well in goal this season.

In contrast to the previous season, when Fabianski was the starting choice, the latter has been used extensively in the Europa League.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Premier League games, Antonio remarked, “It’s amazing how Newcastle has been playing lately; everything has been going to them.” There needs to be a blip somewhere, maybe this weekend, or else I’m going to have the Toon fans coming after me.”They can’t win all the games, there are swings and roundabouts and there has to be some karma coming somewhere because that shouldn’t have been a goal.”

Antonio was upset that VAR did not step in during his team’s loss to Brentford the previous weekend, so he had his back against it once more. The Hammers player thought the second goal for the Bees ought to have been disallowed due to an offside in the build-up

Antonio delivered his assessment of Anthony Gordon’s contentious victory last week, stating: “The fact that three things needed to be verified. Each of the three could have been a different event. That, in my opinion, is off the pitch. I don’t understand where VAR has been looking at that, stopped it, and gone—it’s on—because it looks more off than on.”Next, you approach the two hands behind you. With two hands on his back and headed straight for the ground, the man is about to head the ball away. It’s full force, not just a gentle prod.
